A MENU, A PHOTOGRAPH, AND BEST WISHES TO AN ABSENT FRIEND

Many Years ago I was sent a copy of menu for a meal that took place at one of the ex-officer’s reunions.

These re-unions took place every year until 1983, when it was decided to call a halt to them. They were organised by David Trewby (HQ Troop) and held at the Hurligham Club of which he was secretary.

Sadly on this last ever re-union one of its most popular ex officers was absent due to sickness, Major John Meredith.

( C Troop Commander) had hurt his back, and so each of the officers present signed the back of the menu and sent it John as a keepsake.

Only now by a remarkable chance have I come across a photograph of those present on that very night.
